The sound you get from your hearing aids will differ depending on the type of tip you use.
All MDHearing BTE (behind-the-ear) hearing aids come assembled with Open ComfortTIPs. These exclusive tips mirror the natural shape of the ear canal with a slight curve and include a vent in order to provide clear, natural sound and comfort.
If these do not work for you, the Closed ComfortTIP has a much smaller venting hole, so it can provide more volume but a less natural sound. For the majority of users, we recommend the open ComfortTIP.
If the ComfortTIP does not work for you, we have a variety of dome options available to help you achieve a great fit. Please contact Customer Support and one of our hearing aid specialists will be able to provide you with additional sizes and shapes to better suit your needs.
For Smart Hearing Aids:
When using our "smart" hearing aid models and the MDHearing app, the personalization process will ask which type of tip you are using. We recommend first trying the default Open ComfortTIP that comes attached to your hearing aids.
After completing the personalization, the app will detect if you need more volume to create your profile, in which case you should switch to the "High Volume" Closed ComfortTIP (included in your box). Detailed instructions for using this tip can be found in your User Manual.
Note: Always make sure you are in a quiet place before starting the personalization, as this may affect your results.
